Correction: Brief Parenteral Nutrition Accelerates Weight Gain, Head Growth Even in Healthy VLBWs

چکیده
There is an error in the third-to-last sentence of the “Design, Setting, and Participants” subsection in the Methods. The correct sentence is: We further excluded infants who died before discharge (n = 39), infants discharged after 48 weeks corrected age (n = 348); infants who developed NEC (n = 13) or underwent surgery (n = 385); and infants missing growth data (n = 178). In Fig 1, the second box of the flow chart contains incorrect information. “600” should be “3279.” Please see the corrected Fig 1 here.

Brief Parenteral Nutrition Accelerates Weight Gain, Head Growth Even in Healthy VLBWs
INTRODUCTION Whether parenteral nutrition benefits growth of very low birth weight (VLBW) preterm infants in the setting of rapid enteral feeding advancement is unclear. Our aim was to examine this issue using data from Japan, where enteral feeding typically advances at a rapid rate. METHODS We studied 4005 hospitalized VLBW, very preterm (23-32 weeks' gestation) infants who reached full ente...
متن کاملEffect of two different doses of parenteral amino acid supplementation on postnatal growth of very low birth weight neonates, a randomized controlled trial.
OBJECTIVE To evaluate the effects of two different doses of parenteral aminoacid supplementation on postnatal growth in Very Low Birth Weight (VLBW) infants receiving partial parenteral nutrition (PPN). DESIGN Double blinded randomized controlled trial. SETTING Level 3 NICU between February 2008 to February 2010. PARTICIPANTS 150 inborn babies with birthweight between 900-1250 g, irrespec...
متن کاملRandomised controlled study of clinical outcome following trophic feeding.
AIMS To determine the effect of trophic feeding on clinical outcome in ill preterm infants. METHODS A randomised, controlled, prospective study of 100 preterm infants, weighing less than 1750 g at birth and requiring ventilatory support and parenteral nutrition, was performed. Group TF (48 infants) received trophic feeding from day 3 (0.5-1 ml/h) along with parenteral nutrition until ventilat...
متن کاملParenteral nutrition on growth of low birth weight infants
Objective: The aim of this study is to evaluate the incidence and risk factors for Intrauterine Growth Retardation (IUGR) and Extra Uterine Growth Retardation (EUGR) and provide more approaches for appropriate nutritional support for preterm infants. Methods: A total of 144 preterm infants (75 male and 69 female) were involved in this study. According to the relationship between gestational age...
متن کاملAggressive nutrition in extremely low birth weight infants: impact on parenteral nutrition associated cholestasis and growth
BACKGROUND Parenteral nutrition associated cholestasis (PNAC) is a frequently observed pathology in extremely low birth weight (ELBW) infants. Its pathogenesis is determined by the composition and duration of parenteral nutrition (PN) as well as the tolerance of enteral feeds (EF). "Aggressive" nutrition is increasingly used in ELBW infants to improve postnatal growth. Little is known about the...
